Scheduling Basic

Matrix Approach

You have a list of resources, that need to be accounted for in a First In - First Out basis. You need to report a property associated with the scheduled parcels properties.

This model achieves that allowing you to vary the usage per period and see what impact the change has on the output.

Excel Level - Basic

Requires VBA - No

Scheduling Advanced

Single formula

This model achieves the same as the above model except completes it using a single formula.

Iterative Functions

Calculate the Mandelbrot Set in Excel

 (Without VBA !)

The mandelbrot set is the display of contours of the count of escape orbits from the solution to the complex formula Z^2 = Z^2 + 1

This requires 3 levels of iteration to achieve a solution.

Mining Solutions principle Ian Huitson solved this conundrum in 2003 with Hui's Excel Mandelbrot.

This was recognized in John Walkenbach's Excel 2007 Bible

Extreme Excel

Hui's World

Hui's World is an extreme Excel solution and took 10+ years to develop. Ten years was thinking about the problem and about 20 hours was approximately how long it took to implement.

This is an extreme example of what can be achieved in Excel.

The Model is a single Excel X-Y Scatter Chart containing 111 Series. The series are driven by over 380 Named Formula about a quarter of which are Arrays of Latitude and Longitudes for the approximately 2,550 data points defining the countries of the globe. The remainder contain transformation calculations to shift the data to an X/Y Grid, Hide data when it is behind the earth and allow display of annotation.
